Help Us Give Forgotten Dogs a Chance at Life

At APA La Sonrisa Peluda, we rescue the animals no one else will take. The old, the sick, the forgotten. We are a small, donation-funded shelter near Málaga, Spain, caring for over 70 dogs, 6 cats, 1 Vietnamese pig, roosters, hens, and rescued turkeys. Many of our dogs have health issues, and while we do our best to prepare them for adoption, some will stay with us forever.

For most of our animals, the shelter is their only home. Some have been waiting for five, six, even nine years, without ever being chosen. 💔

With just two people running the shelter, we rely entirely on donations to continue our mission. But with costs rising, we are struggling to keep going. That’s why we want to introduce you to three of our longest residents.

Bambino
(10 years)

This playful black Pitbull mix has been with us for 9 years, patiently waiting for a family to see him. He was found living on the streets with no safe place to go.

Over the years, we have cared for him, given him love, and worked to build his trust. While he still needs an experienced adopter, he is full of energy and joy.

He loves to run, play, and enjoy the little moments of happiness at the shelter. No one has ever asked about him, but we keep hoping someone will come for him one day.

Angela
(10 years)

Angela came to us from Huelva. Back then, she was scared and didn’t trust anyone. Now, after a lot of time and care, she’s different—she’s learned to feel safe with us.

Her eyes are bad because of a sickness called myasthenia gravis, but she’s tough. She likes doing her own thing but loves the people she knows. She’s happy with her daily routine here and lights up when we give her some attention.

She might never get a home, but with us, she’s loved and taken care of.

Chipre
8 years

Chipre was found abandoned and alone. But even after all he’s been through, he is full of love.

Despite battling leishmaniasis, he remains very affectionate and gentle. He lost his left eye, but he still loves life and cuddles from anyone who’ll give them.

He’s so sweet, and we really hope someone will see past his scars and love him for who he is.

We need you your help

The cost of caring for so many unadoptable dogs keeps going up, while donations are dropping. We’re at our limit. 😢 Every month, we need 4.600 € just to cover basics like rent and bills, plus around 1.500 € for vet care. Without support, we can’t pay for their food, treatments, or even keep a safe place for them to live.

Please help us. 🙏 No amount is too small…every donation makes a difference and helps us continue caring for these forgotten souls 🐶

Together, we can keep saving lives.

Thank you very much,
Your Javier
